Low-Cost Elementary School Math Tutoring by Robert Schwartz

NYC Parents,

Are you looking for math tutoring for your children? Do you want to save money? Well, we have someone for you!

Robert Schwartz, a former PS 75 elementary school parent, is offering Low-Cost Elementary School Math Tutoring with an Emphasis on Basic Math Skills. He has experience in working with the Everyday Math curriculum taught in the New York City Public Schools, from working with his daughter from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Robert places emphasis on "old-fashioned" basic math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division. He also makes neat & simple charts to make it easier to remember basic math operations.

Robert's been a tutor for the last 3 years at PS 75. Many of his students have done well at the NYS Math Exams. They also have gone on to top NYC middle schools, such as the Computer School & Mott Hall 2.

Save The Libraries In New York!

I want to bring up a serious issue that we're facing right now in New York.

As many of you are aware, the NY government wants to make more budget cuts and this time, they're taking it to the libraries. They want to reduce library service drastically. This is seriously bad news for all of us. Libraries have helped shaped people's lives for the better.

My life was shaped dramatically because of the library. I grew my love of reading and writing through the library. I went to the Brooklyn Public Library in my area a lot back in my younger days. As I got older, I began to go to the New York Public Library. I've used the libraries to read  books, study, and surf the Internet (before I got my first computer).

These days, libraries have gotten better. There are lots of computers, fun activities, and more importantly, job resource centers. I'm amazed at the resources offered by the NYPL when it comes to helping people with their job search. It's essentially a haven for those who have been unemployed for so long and also for those needing to learn new skills.

Parents, please take a stand with fellow New Yorkers and the NYPL to fight against these cuts. We really can't afford to have setbacks such as this to our educational livelihood. To join the fight, please visit dontclosethebook.nypl.org. Together, we can ensure that libraries prosper and continue to be wonderful avenues of learning for all.

ParentJobNet News

How is everyone enjoying the website so far? So far, we are working on a few kinks in terms of the class/event registration forms. They are not working as properly as they should.

We have another networking event coming up on May 19th. It is bound to be another great event. Ron Sundick is coming back to do another presentation for us. The event will be held at TD Bank at 68th St. & Broadway.

Stay tuned for more updates shortly!
