So you finally got the job you wanted. Thanks to a wonderful network of contacts, you're on your way to happiness. You probably decide to quit networking since you will be pretty busy with your new job. Not so fast.
It's still important that you're able to network effectively at your new job. Try to get to know your fellow co-workers, departments, and supervisors. Specifically, you should try and target middle-management and upper-management. Networking with the janitor will not help you advance in the company, no matter how much you like him/her.
Try to get a mentor. He/she can definitely show you the ropes on how to succeed within the job and who to talk to. Most importantly, if you're going to network effectively, keep it very informal & low-key.
