Data Analyst for New Teacher Project

New Job For the Week!

Data Analyst - Research and Evaluation Team
The Data Analyst will support the Research and Evaluation team in the program data collection and analysis process. The Data Analyst will report to the Director of Program Evaluation.
Specific responsibilities include:

** Survey development and administration tasks
o Offering input on survey design (format and content)
o Customizing and uploading surveys for each site using Survey Monkey, an online survey tool
o Creating distribution lists for individual surveys and uploading to them to our online survey tool prior to survey distribution
o Monitoring survey results and sending reminders as necessary
o Calculating and maintaining records of response rates for all surveys
o Troubleshooting with site-based staff around survey completion and user errors/complaints
** Survey data analysis tasks
o Extracting survey results from Survey Monkey at appropriate intervals
o Compiling, cleaning, and analyzing survey data
o Generating basic descriptive statistics, crosstabs, and correlations for data linked to individual sites
o Merging data sets to create cross-site and longitudinal data files for organization wide analysis
o Using analytical techniques such as linear and logistic regression to answer research questions posed by a variety of stakeholders
o Producing regular reports for site-based staff with disaggregated data for certain business lines
o Disseminating survey results to multiple stakeholders on an ongoing basis
o Producing written summary reports of data analysis for multiple stakeholder audiences
o Fielding ongoing requests for data analysis from all business lines and central teams
** Analyzing teacher retention and effectiveness data and producing reports
** Miscellaneous tasks for the Research and Evaluation team, as needed
Additional Qualifications:

Successful candidates will also demonstrate:
o Proficiency with SPSS and Excel required
o Experience with Access, SAS and/or STATA preferred
o Extraordinary attention to detail under tight timelines
o Strong statistical skills
o Demonstrated experience in quantitative analysis, particularly with large scale and longitudinal datasets (highly preferred)
o Demonstrated experience working as part of research team(s) with responsibilities for conceptualizing data collection and analysis methods, collecting original data and/or analyzing secondary data (highly preferred)
o Master's degree in Public Policy or Public Administration is a plus
o Excellent communication and writing skills
o Strong organizational skills
o Problem solving skills
o The ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
o The ability to learn quickly and work in a fast paced environment
o Flexibility
o Strong interpersonal skills
o The ability to work well independently and with others
Compensation
The annual salary for this position is $55,000 or commensurate with experience in a similar position. Futures Academy Coordinator
The Futures Academy Coordinator will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive college and career awareness program for high school students. The desired objective is to encourage excellence in academic performance and provide preparation for the challenges in life. The Futures Academy Coordinator will also develop activities based on the following goals violence prevention, life skills (personal development), education on substance abuse, (marijuana, smoking, alcohol), financial development/economic responsibility and community development (Help me, Help you Projects).
The Futures Coordinator will:
*Develop a college preparation component that includes:
College Awareness,
*College and Financial Aide application for all eligible students, Organizing College Fairs and Visits for Students, Developing partnerships with college advisors and boards, Assisting all 11th and 12 graders with SAT prep,
Develop relationships with alternative schools (plumbing, computer graphics etc.), Building linkages with outside agencies for Internships, Building interactive programs for your participants.
Young Investors Club
*Correspond regularly with the CSO to follow up on past students.
*Coordinate with EAP Coordinator a rites of passage program for 8th graders entering the 9th grade.
*Creating and implementing a comprehensive regent prep program.
*Recruit, Retain and Revitalize students from the 9th to 12th grade to participate in Futures Academy.
*Responsible for presentations and outreach to high schools for the development of the Futures Academy Program.
*Plan innovative trips, workshops, guest speakers, youth summit, special events and activities surrounding the following topics:
Violence Prevention
*Life Skills (Personal Development, STDs, etc.)
*Goal Setting/Decision Making
*Education about Substance Abuse (Marijuana, Alcohol and Smoking)
*Financial Development/Economic Responsibility
*Community Development (Help me, Help you Project) 3 projects for the year.
*Socialization Skills /Self Esteem
*Government (Teen Youth Council)
*Team Building Activities
*Supervise Student Advocates, Teachers, Tutors, and Aides with weekly supervisions and component meetings.
*Responsible for hiring staff needed for Futures Academy Program.
*Provide Director with Weekly Component Reports and Administrative Monthly Report.
*Assist Program Director with all administrative operations of the Futures Academy component.
*Develop one on one relationship with all Futures Academy students and parents.
*Create a component calendar and schedule regular Parent/Participant meetings (Orientation/Open House) to increase communication with families of the Futures Academy Program.
*Responsible for reviewing staff case, tutoring notes and ETO for accuracy with attendance and grouping etc.
Additional Qualifications
*Must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
*A master's degree in education, social work or adolescent development is preferred.
*Must have strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent writing and communication skills.
*Must possess 1-2 years' youth development skills.
*Passionate about working with teenagers.
*Knowledgeable of youth development.
*Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
*Experience working in a fast-paced, highly team-oriented environment.
*Excellent time management, follow-through, and organizational skills
*Must be able to work some evenings

9/30 PJN Networking Event Photos

Hello, folks. ParentJobNet recently had a Professional Networking Event at Starbucks (350 Fifth Ave. & 34th Street) this past Wednesday. It was a wonderful event where many people got together and established relationships that we believe can lead to a successful career and other opportunities.
Ron Sundick was the guest speaker of the evening and he gave an informative speech about how to ace the interviews, the importance of networking, outdated keywords to avoid, and spoke about his service, APA International Placement Consultants, LLC, to the audience.

New Job Opportunity at NY Urban League!

We have another job opportunity available for those who are interested!

Director of Education
Position Description
The Director of Education will work on the major educational initiatives of the New York Urban League – our Staten Island Youth program, the Whitney M Young Scholarship Program, the Historically Black College Fair, and an evolving Mentoring Program. The Director of Education will also help to develop, implement and help fund new program initiatives. The position will be based in Harlem, but may in time include a school in Brooklyn and traveling to the Staten Island youth based program. The Director of Education will report to the Deputy Director of Programs and be part of the Executive Cabinet.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
· Working directly with Deputy Director of Programs and the CEO, the Director of Education will help develop and implement a new education department for the New York Urban League.
· Oversee implementation of the Whitney M Young Scholarship program to aspiring college students, and the creation of system to track lapsed scholars. In addition the Public Ally will work with the Associate Director to identify ways to creatively find people who have received Whitney M Young Scholarships in the past and re-connect them with the Urban League.
· The New York Urban League regularly works with a group of over one hundred 25-40 year old professional volunteers called the Young Professionals. The Director of Education will work with his or her staff to develop a signature mentoring program for junior high or high schoolers that will help feed scholarship applicants for the Whitney M Young Scholarship program.
· The New York Urban League has also partnered with Children’s Aid Society to provide one of the nation’s largest Historically Black College Fairs every November. The Director of Education will directly liaison with the HBCU Committee.
· The Director of Education will have direct oversight of the Staten Island Youth Leadership program,
· Other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills & Experience:
* Five years experience working in a non-profit organization on education issues.
* Commitment to the organization’s mission
* Strong analytic, problem solving, verbal and written communications skills
* Ability to work with staff in various disciplines and at all organizational levels
* Ability to multi-task in fast paced dynamic environment.
* Experience in proposal development.
* Strong Computer skills.
* Strong existing networks in the community, school-based or foundation setting.
